Mystic Air KAL

On April 23, 2009, in KAL, lace, Mystic Air, pattern, shawl, by Anna

Announcing the Mystic Air Lace Shawl knitalong!

This square shawl is the fourth shawl in the Mystic Elements series (following Mystic Waters, Mystic Light and Mystic Earth). Mystic Air draws its inspiration from the heavens above and the air that we breathe.

My shawl is knit on 3.5 mm needles, using two skeins (200 g) of Alpaca Cashsilk yarn from Tri’Coterie (1,200 m per 100 g skein) in the Bella Swan colourway. The shawl uses approx. 1,800 m of laceweight yarn. As always, yarn substitutions are encouraged.

The blocked dimensions are approx. 160 cm x 160 cm (63″ x 63″)

SIGN UP FOR KAL
The pattern will be made available for a knitalong, starting May 27.

Mystic Roses Lace Shawl

On April 20, 2009, in lace, Mystic Roses, pattern, shawl, by Anna

Mystic Roses is a triangular shawl inspired by roses of every hue.

The finished height is approximately 134 cm (52”), and the wingspan is 268 cm (105″).
There is also a pattern for a smaller version of the shawl included in the pattern files.

My shawl is knit on 3.75 mm needles, using Wollmeise Lace-Garn yarn (530 m/580 yds per 100 g) in the Rosenrot colourway.
The shawl uses one 300g skein (approx 1,590 m / 1,740 yds).

As always, yarn substitutions are encouraged.
My actual yarn consumption was approx 1,450 m (1,570 yds).
Any lace-weight or light fingering weight yarn will work. Some suggestions are JaggerSpun Zephyr, Malabrigo, Misti Alpaca Lace, Yarntopia Treasures 5/2 Egyptian Cotton or 5/2 Tencel, or Cottage Craft Angora 2-ply lace yarns.

The pattern is available in downloadable .pdf format for $8.00 CDN.

Blackheart Scarf

On April 18, 2009, in Blackheart, lace, pattern, scarf, by Anna

The Blackheart scarf is a lacy scarf to dress up any occasion.

I thought it would be fun to use sock yarn for something that’s not socks – Blackheart uses the same amount of yarn as for a pair of socks, and most sock yarns can be substituted for the Apple Pie that I used.

The scarf is knit using 2 skeins of Apple Pie from Apple Laine (licorice) – 190 yds (174m) per 56 g skein. The length of the scarf is of course adjustable, but with two skeins you get a scarf which is approx. 208 cm x 28 cm (82″ x 11″)

The pattern is available in downloadable .pdf format for $8.00 CDN.
