Progress

On May 8, 2007, in afghan, socks, by Anna

Well, nothing is completed, but I feel compelled to update with some progress pictures. The Falling in love socks are coming along nicely. I have almost completed the first sock. The pattern is very pretty. I did alter the pattern slightly, in that once the pattern was established on the back of the leg, the cables would line up on both sides. That means that the last cable on the back half of the pattern is worked just prior to the first cable on the front half. I.e. the pattern goes cableB – cableF – heartsF – cableF – cableB – heartsB, instead of front together and back together.

I also altered the second k4tog to an ssssk for symmetry. I am also planning on adding a ribbed cuff (k1p1) on the top for a more finished look.

The toe looks nice – short row toe looks more square than the one on the top-down socks I knit before. I think this more closely resembles the shape of my foot than the pointy toe.

The Aran Afghan is also coming along. After 3 false starts, I finally settled on a pattern that I like. I have knit about 1/3 of the center panel, and have added bobbles (popcorn) to the pattern. This is such a fun knit. I get to use so many different cables and techniques that I feel like a real expert. I can’t wait for this afghan to be finished. I am also working on a name for it. Stay tuned for more info.

By the way, the Senators are cooperating and we’re set for a third round. More evening knitting time for me. Yay!
