The Silvester is a lacy rectangular scarf/stole.
Silvester will be published as part of a KAL starting Dec 7, 2009.
My Silvester is knit in rust coloured Tencel 5/2 from Yarntopia Treasures.
Unfortunately the 5/2 Tencel has been discontinued, but the 8/2 Tencel or 5/2 Egyptian Cotton would both be good alternatives.
Other yarn suggestions include:
Wollmeise 100% Sockenwolle or Lace-Garn
Sanguine Gryphon Sappho
most lace or fingering weight yarns
Colour recommendations: solid or semi-solid colours
The length adjustable in the pattern. Depending on your gauge and the yarn you choose, the width will vary. With my yarn and 4.5 mm needles, the width of the stole is 45 cm.
The yarn consumption will also vary, depending on your gauge and the length you choose to make your Silvester. 500-600 yds is a reasonable guess though.

What is the yardage requirement for the yarns?
This sounds like lots of fun. If I can finish my current main project before the 7th I'll definitely sign up. I have 2 questions:
Do you have an estimate on required yardage?
and
Do you mind if I mention this KAL on my podcast?
Kristen & radler: the yarn consumption varies depending on how long you would like your Silvester to be, and of course the yarn you choose and your gauge. I used one skein of the 5/2 (525 yds), and 500-600 yds is a reasonable guess at how much yarn you'll use.

Hi Britt-Marie. All the patterns were mailed out on Monday. If you did not get yours, you need to email me so I can check your address and resend it.
