Yarn Packages

On March 9, 2009, in yarn, by Anna

I have received a few skeins of yarn in the mail in the past few weeks. The first one (in amber) is Sappho Laceweight from the Sanguine Gryphon. The colourway is “I Cannot Work the Loom”, and I have two 3.5 oz skeins with 850 yds in each of them.

I’m getting ready to wind them (just working up the patience), and then they will be turned into…. you guessed it. A lace shawl!

The second package contained a number of different skeins from Yarntopia Treasures. There is one skein of Tencel 5/2 is 525 yds in a 4 oz skein. It was dyed in solid Rust for me.

Unfortunately I just learned that the tencel 5/2 will likely be discontinued. But there are lots of other yarns with a similar weight.

There are 3 skeins of a Bamboo cotton blend in a solid Amethyst – each 4 oz skein contains 420 yds. This is the same yarn I used for the South for the Winter scarf.

And one skein of Egyptian wool-silk (52% wool/48% silk) 360 yds – 4 oz. This yarn is a little heavier than the other ones – more of a sport weight. But it is amazingly soft with a special luster to it. And it’s dyed in Camel, Olive Drab, and Black.

Finally – just for fun, some crazy colours. This is a Rayon Boucle yarn, fingering weight, in Horse Play. I think this might become something for the kids. :-)
